As far as true cheats that is about it. I had some Dark Chocolate (Lindt makes a 90% Coco Bar that is great!) and some cheese (mostly feta on salads and other things), but really I held strong all month.
The results? Very good. I feel stronger due to my new exercises and I have lost close to 10lb. I also feel like my cognitive abilities are improved. Lyme symptoms? Well I believe some things are better like my lightheaded/dizziness, My numb fingers have improved, but that may be a result of the drugs more than anything. I do not believe I am quite cured yet. Hopefully my new diet will improve my immune system too and help fight this disease.
All in all I am loving my new lifestyle and I can pass on doughnuts and other sugary treats without much extra will power. After a month of resisting it has become quite easy. Yes I know they taste good, but they are just not worth it. Someone will come out with the Cake or Cupcakes at a party and I'll say to my son, "You know how I make those cupcakes Paleo?", "No how?" he asks wondering my secret. "I don't eat them." I return with a big smile.
What now? I'm staying Paleo! (mostly) I will have my sensible treats like wine and dark chocolate. I will also occasionally have a non-Paleo meal depending on the circumstances, but will limit it to once a week, and still absolutely skip any bread or buns. I think I am just done with that stuff.
